    Sylvie Guillem was not included here. She was more astonishing than all of these dancers. I still find her unmatched!

    Does anyone else find Svetlana Zakharova hard to watch? To my eye she is too tall and somewhat freakish looking, like a contortion artist. She is not graceful or charming to me because she's just too big and overly flexible. I understand and appreciate that those of you who are ballerinas admire her technical perfection and timing. You'll probably hate me for saying this, but I so much prefer watching Gelsey Kirkland dance. Admittedly, I'm like an Emperor Joseph II listening to Mozart ("too many notes.") But I'm just wondering if there are others who see what I see.

      @kegaket6772 : j remember very well Pierre Lacotte said in 2002 that Zakha is the first in the world j agree in this erea where she was at the beginning of her career but after it's an other thing ; in first Zakha is too tall for some roles j think about Aurora , a young teenager 16 y , " les Sylphides ' - Fokine or " La Sylphide " coreo Lacotte also ; j don't like her larges extensions over 180 degres ( better for gymnasts ) ; Zakha is great but can't danse everything to be credible j prefer a Star 40 y with an apparence of teenager for Giselle ; the Top of Zakha for me is Aegyne in " Spartacus GRigorovitch " the more erotical female for this role ; in fact a ,little as you

    People get so offended when Zakharova is rated as one of the best ballerinas. They always like to bring up how rigid or cold she is OR how her extensions are too gymnastic and unnecessary.... Zakharova is in a league of her own and that takes nothing away from ballerinas who are dancing now or who have come before her. She is otherworldly and an ARTIST. Having seen her live I can't say I could fully comprehend she was even human lol.

    All ten places - Sylvie Guillem, Sylvie Guillem, Sylvie Guillem etc, etc, etc, - Sylvie is the GREATEST PHENOMENON IN THE HISTORY OF CLASSICL BALLET. None of the Russians can match the divine Sylvie. it is as simple as that.

    The last visit to Washingto DC of the Bolshoi Ballet signaled the slow and pathetic end of the myth of the Russian ballet - the performance in Washington DC was simply embarrassing - dansers kept falling down it was like watching the national ballet of Inner Mongolia As we all know there is one person who destroyed the Russian ballet - SYLVIE GUILLEM - GLORY TO SYLVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!11

    • @ozsfi

  • @Victoria-tk2uh
    @Victoria-tk2uh 8 лет назад

    zakharova couldn't be eve;n compared with the best prima-ballerina of all times - the only genius - SYLVIE GUILLEM. The poor Russian ballerinas try to imitate her - poor zakharova is obsessed by SYLVIE GUILLEM but Sylvie is in the class of her own and NOBODY WILL BE EVER BETTER THAN SYLVIE - WHO DESTROYED THE RUSSIAN BALLET!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • @alecsia96
      @alecsia96 8 лет назад

      +Victoria You are so pathetic lmfao do you actually get paid? Please go on, Zakharova imitates Guillem, Plisetskaya was obese...

    • @Victoria-tk2uh
      @Victoria-tk2uh 8 лет назад

      +alecsia96 The classical ballet was invented in France at the court of Louis 14, and then perfected by the great Italian dancers. Russia has NOTHING TO DO WITH THAT. Russia adopted keenly the new art of ballet because the classical ballet is TOTALY APOLITICAL - so the Russian ballet 'flourished' during the barbaric tsars, barbaric Bolsheviks and under barbaric 'so called Russian Federation' that is disintegrating in front of our eyes. Did you get it you revolting KGB operative? And, just for your info. Putin is the last president of Russia in its present size and form. Russia is simply becoming the Chinese province whether the Russians dance or not...

    • @alecsia96
      @alecsia96 8 лет назад

      +Victoria All i have to say is: ballet was not invented in France; it was created in Italy under the Medici Family's patronate. Everyone knows it. Go educate yourself. WTF, who cares about Putin... You must be really obsessed, or really well-paid. Long live the Russian ballet, long live Zakharova, Lopatkina, Obraztsova, Vishneva and all the true goddesses of classical ballet of our century! <3

    • @janwintz8372
      @janwintz8372 8 лет назад

      +alecsia96 Who are you implying needs educating? Victoria here has an infinitely greater grasp of the history of ballet (and an eminently greater explanation of it, my dear... Jan

    • @alecsia96
      @alecsia96 8 лет назад

      Educate me then. Teach me the history of ballet. Everyone used to think ballet was created in Italy, but apparently the world is wrong and you and "Victoria" the russophobic paranoid are the ones who hold the hiden truth. Don't hold it back, please share your knowledge with the world!

    Great list, great clips. Taste is subjective and I think all of these dancers are beautiful, I also like Darcey Bussell and Cyd Charisse and Fred Astaire It's not merely technique that makes someone brilliant- 'feelings' come into it always.
